November SimTech™ Challenge Wrap Up
Nope, it’s not a typo, Alexandru Crai of OMS Besser Group has done it again! He is this month’s Injection Molding Champ. Which means, he’s well on his way to clinching this year’s title as the 2021 top Injection ProMolder. Following close behind, is a new competitor, Dana Birzan, also from OMS Besser Group; excellent job Dana. Our steady winner and two-time champion, Johnny Ash, placed third. Congratulations to our winners and to all who participated.
This month’s featured setup is by Dana Birzan of OMS Besser Group. Here’s what our expert challenge developers had to say about this month’s challenge:
The process started with optimizing the melt temperature. Bringing the melt to the lower end of the recommended melt temperature allowed for a faster cooling rate. More on that in a minute. The cushion had an issue as it was too large. So, with some calculations between the screw back distance (shot size) and final cushion, the final cushion was solved. Finally, the mold temperature was optimized to the lower limits and the cooling time was adjusted to minimize the overall cycle time (cooling rate).This optimization process allowed for an overall process efficiency of 121.74%Now that’s making a nice profit!
