Certus, a technical training company based in Orlando, Fla., has purchased Paulson Training Programs Inc., a well-known provider of specialized plastics manufacturing and scientific injection molding training.

The deal will expand Certus’ portfolio of professional training and certifications to include Paulson’s digital- and instructor-led plastics technical training and certifications.

Paulson will also continue to offer its current brand and services.

“We see a very real opportunity to scale the Paulson business and leverage our joint capabilities to offer new and enhanced solutions to our learners,” Holly Falcaro, executive vice president at Certus, said in a news release.

Certus CEO John Comly called Paulson “an innovative and powerful player in the industry.”

Paulson officials said new ownership is a good fit. The company, which was founded in 1980 by Plastics Hall of Famer Don Paulson, has about 20 employees.

Don Paulson, who is 93, is retired, and the company has been owned by four of his children: Karen, Craig, Chuck and Scott Paulson

Karen Paulson, the current president, highlighted the company’s role in helping to bridge the skills gap in plastics processing.

“Through our training solutions, we’ve impacted the livelihoods of thousands of individuals and plastics professionals on a global scale,” Karen Paulson said, adding that she is “excited for this next era of growth.”

Paulson Training will highlight the new ownership at NPE2024, and will feature the expanded Certus training portfolio.

Paulson Training’s offerings will continue to include its advanced simulation technology, known as SimTech.

Certus is a professional training and certification company that specializes in serving regulated end markets. Ridgemont Equity Partners, a Charlotte, N.C.-based private equity firm, bought the company in 2020, and the firm was rebranded as Certus last year.
